Joe Saylers, business manager for Three Dog Night and Steppenwolf, is shot in the arm after a confrontation with two strangers in his West Hollywood apartment.

Steve Winwood releases his first solo L.P., entitled, "Steve Winwood."

The Jefferson Starship fail to perform at the Lorley Festival in St. Goarhausen, Germany because lead singer Grace Slick, dealing with alcoholism, is unable to go onstage.

Led Zeppelin begins a three week European tour. It is their first on the continent since 1973. It will be the group's last tour.

"The Reflex," Duran Duran. It is the group's first No. 1 hit in the United States.

Ringo Starr announces that he will tour again under the guise of "Ringo and the All-Starr Band." Members of the band include Clarence Clemons, Joe Walsh, Billy Preston and Nils Lofgren.

Rod Stewart sets an attendance record for Wembley Stadium with a concert crowd of 90,000. The 1985 Live Aid concert drew 72,000.
