The Problem: Western Supermarkets is a family owned grocery chain in Birmingham known for their excellent service and specialty selections, but one area of the store needed a boost. Despite having a wide selection of truly superior offerings, Western's deli departments weren't getting the catering and large order traffic that they should have.
The Process: WBPT sat down with Western's owners and listened to their concern, then helped them focus on the most pressing. They discussed why western's Delis were being overlooked, and what they could do together to change that!
The Plan: Western Supermarkets incorporated on-air, on-line, and promotional elements to reach their goals. Every week, Western Supermarkets hosts the WBPT Office Raid Lunch. Businesses in the area register on-line at the birminghamseagle.com contest page to win the weekly lunch for up to 25 people, and an on-air personality takes it to the lucky winners every Friday. At the same site, registrants are encouraged to sign up to receive the Western Supermarkets Daily Lunch Specials. In addition, Western runs audio-streaming ads which specifically talk about catering for business functions.
The Performance: Through their partnership with WBPT, Western Supermarkets has increased their deli business by almost 50% over the past year. In addition, they have had the opportunity to sample their delicious deli offerings to dozens of businesses in all areas of town by hosting the Office Raid.
